Design Development

Electronic Products

Highest marks for your design ideas will be given for:

  • A wide range of appropriate solutions proposed.
  • Design proposals chosen as a result of detailed evaluations and consideration of the need and fitness for purpose.
  • Design communication will be of a high quality, well presented using a wide range of appropriate techniques.

Developing your ideas: it is very rare that early ideas are the most suitable, get your user to evaluate the ideas and record the results (Questionnaire). Produce models to help users understand your designs, simulate circuits on CAD. Models & simulations also help you discover potential problems that may be encountered during manufacture. Imagine designing a product to be made through mass production, 100,000 products all wrong because of something you did not think of!  Consider the cost implications of design faults.
When you have developed every aspect of your final design for the casing & circuit (and rejected other alternatives), redraw them using suitable pictorial & schematic views (see example).. Render the drawing and model it if necessary, produce cutting lists, and remember it should comply with the final specification (PDS). .
